About Jim —

It can safely be said that Jim Sun loved ice skating, in particular, ice dance and he always had a smile for everyone when he was on the ice.  Jimmy began competing in the early 1980’s, competed at US Nationals in 1986 and then in 1988 at Worlds representing, with his partner, Chinese Taipei.  Shortly after that, he turned professional and moved to the San Francisco Bay Area where he traveled to the area’s many ice rinks to coach his students.  In addition, he always attended the Bay Area Ice Dance weekends, sharing his expertise and passion for ice dancing with as many partners as possible.  He started his shop “Blades & Wheels Skate Shop” in 2005 in San Mateo, California, with stock and custom boots plus complete skate services.

In June 2016, at the age of 54, Jimmy suffered a devastating hemorrhagic stroke that robbed him of the use of his right side, even causing a lopsided smile.  Needless to say this has turned his and his family’s world upside down.  His wife and daughter closed down his business and the merchandise was stored.  The family is currently in southern California where Jimmy is getting physical therapy and medical support to help him toward a path of recovery.

ReSkate has now placed all the remaining merchandise on this website.  The proceeds, in full, will be given to his family to help cover his medial and long-term health expenses.  Jimmy is a much loved and very much missed member of the Bay Area skating community and we hope all who visit ReSkate.net will look for one thing to purchase to help defray the horrendous cost to help Jimmy’s world turn right side up again.
