IN GENERAL FOR ALL 3 MEASURING TECHNIQUES:
In all cases: measure your foot first and then download the template that fits the measurements. Choose the measuring method that works best for you.
Children to age 12 – add (for older) 1/4″ and (for younger) add no more than 3/8″ to the length
Teens and Adults – add (wider feet) add 1/4″, and (narrower feet) add 3/16″ max to the length
If the sizing is larger because of the thickness of the sock, a cotton sock may adhere to the inside of most boots and the foot will slide inside the sock. If the boot is too large this will cause the boot to break down faster, provide less blade or inline frame control and leave the skater frustrated when trying to control what they are doing. A sock made like skating tights or actual tights will allow the boot to fit closer so the boot could be a half to one size smaller. If the foot has on nylon-type socks or is barefooted the boot size will be adjusted accordingly and fit the best. In addition the skater will have more control over their skate and consequently get better support in order to control the blade or frame.
