Regular Oven:
- Preheat oven to 170 – 180 degrees F. Turn oven off when temperature is reached.
- Place your skates in the oven standing straight up and bake for 3 to 4 minutes.
- Remove the boots from the oven, taking care not to burn yourself on your blades or lace hooks. Let the boots cool slightly so that you can handle them.
- Once your foot is in the boot, lightly tap the heels to set them into the heel cup of your boots.
- Lace the boot up with very snug tension (snugger than you would normally for skating to enable the boots to mold properly over your feet.
- Leave your skates on for 10 minutes while they are molding to your feet, with feet flat on the floor, occasionally flexing forward and back to mold.
- Remove the skates from your feet and allow them to cool for 5 minutes.
- Put the skates back on, lace them and note fit.
Convection Oven: Best method
1. Set the oven to 180 degrees or on warming function. Let the oven preheat and turn it off. At this point you can put on the boots in the oven for approximately 3 to 5 minutes – or until the boots become pliable. You may want to use a cookie sheet or other pan so that they can be set upright in the oven
2. Remove the boots from the oven taking care not to burn yourself on the blades or lace hooks. Let the boots cool slightly so that you can handle them.
3. When the boots are cool enough to handle, place them on the feet, pushing the heels all the way into the heel cups. Lace the boots up very snugly; slightly tighter than normal so that the boots will wrap around the shape of the feet. For Jackson boots, press down on the toe box slightly where the laces start. This will open the toe box slightly, allowing for a better fit.
